He graduated from high school in 1938 and entered the Army Air Corps shortly thereafter. While in the military, Julian traveled through North Africa, Italy and the United Kingdom meeting the love of his life, Jean McRandall in Ballymena, Ireland.
In 1945, Julian brought Jean to the United States where they were married and began their family. In 1953, they moved from Michigan to Arizona residing in Phoenix, moving to Jerome and in 1956, settling in Prescott.
Julian worked for Mountain Bell Telephone for 37 years retiring in 1979. In retirement, Julian enjoyed photography and flying airplanes and had attended air shows including the Oshkosh Air Show that takes place annually in Wisconsin. Julian built his own airplane and during the 1980s and early 1990s, could be found at the Prescott Airport.
