Gisela Cemetery
Gila County,
Arizona

Gisela is reportedly named for the main character in the book "Countess Gisela."

It is located about 20 miles south and east of Payson, Arizona.

At the southern end of a little community known as Rye on Arizona Highway 87 going between the Phoenix area and Payson, Gisela Road heads East for about 5 miles up a twisty, mountain road with speed limits ranging from 10 to 35 MPH.

The road is paved all the way to Gisela which is another very small, picturesque residential, retirement, and ranching community with virtually no business establishments. The community itself is just south of the road.

The road turns to gravel as it passes the community and the cemetery is a mile or so up the gravel road. Watch for Cemetery Road leading off to the left. The cemetery is at the end of the road, perhaps 100 yards from the main road. The Cemetery is easily accessible with the family sedan.
