My dad was an extremely strong, handsome man, with dark curly hair. You could really see the Indian bone structure in his face, with his strong high cheek bones. He was a very soft spoken man, but when he told me to do something, I did it immediately! I never heard anyone say an unkind thing about him. He was known to be an honest and upright man.
For my first five years, we lived on a dairy in Reedley, Calif. where my dad was the milker. I loved to visit my dad in the milking barns. Dad loved fishing. When we lived in Clovis, Calif. he went fishing up at Millerton Lake or the rivers below the lake. Once in a while, he would take me with him. Although I'm sure he couldn't get very much fishing done with me there falling in the river and getting fish hooks stuck in me. He also like to surf fish on the Central Coast of Calif. One of his favorite things to do was to look for abalone.
