He served in the All Japanese-American (Nisei) 100th Infantry Battalion also known as the "Purple Heart Battalion" Most Decorated Outfit in U.S. Military History.
Fought in North Africa, Italy, and France. Battles of Monto Cassino, Anzio-Rome, Belvedere, Rome-Arno,Bruyeres-Biffontaine, "Champagne Campaign", in Southern France, Germany Gothic Line, Po Valley, and the Rhineland.
He was awarded; Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Oak Leaf Cluster (2nd Presidential Unit Citation), American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. On 2 Nov. 2011 was award the Congressional Gold Medal.
His name is inscribed on the "Go For Broke Monument" in Little Tokyo in Los Angeles, California,which is dedicated to the Nisei who served in the 100th/442nd and Military Intelligence Service.
