James H. Sult, 87, died at his home in Winkelman on Monday, March 5, 2007. He was born July 23, 1919 in Rural Retreat, Virginia.

Serving in the US Army from 1941-1945, Jim fought mainly in the European-African Theater of the Second World War with much honor and bravery. He received the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and the Good Conduct medals while in the 1st Special Service Force (The Devil's Brigade). The 1st Special Service Force (The Devil's Brigade) was a Joint WWII American-Canadian Commando Unit.
Then, as a distinguished veteran, he returned to the Redford Army Ammunition Plant to finish up 21 years as a worker there in Virginia. Jim was a lifetime member of the 1st Special Service Forces Association (The Devil's Brigade).
Early in 2014 1st Special Service Force, also known as the The Devil's Brigade, will join a rarefied few as Congressional Gold Medal recipients.
Hollywood made a Movie called "The Devil's Bridage" in 1968.
