Henrietta Margaret (Becker) Moore was born February 19, 1911, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Her Father came and took her Home in the evening of Monday, November 24, 2008. Her parents were Julia Newberry (Hotaling) and Harry James Becker. Henrietta graduated from Lincoln High School and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She wanted to be a teacher but she did not want to do her student teaching in a one room school house on the Nebraska prairie. When she was younger, Henrietta spoke German as her grandfather insisted that only German be spoken in the house when he visited. On March 25, 1943, Henrietta married Lyle J. Moore in Omaha, Nebraska. They soon set out for Arizona and their first home was a cabin in the desert on the side of South Mountain in Laveen, Arizona. It was there that her son and only child, Richard, was born. In 1952 Henrietta and her family moved to Yuma where she would spend the rest of her life. She worked for the University of Arizona Extension Service, the Farm Bureau, and was the secretary at Roosevelt School and later at C.W. McGraw School. She loved the children and loved being around them. Henri, as she was known to her friends, and 'Mother' to me, was a wonderful person. She had strong Midwest conservative values and was willing to help anyone who needed it. She was a generous and loving parent and spouse. She loved to make afghans and sew. She loved her trips with her son to Branson, Missouri and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. She loved country music and was a fan of Box Car Willie. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Julia Becker; her brothers, Richard and Harry Becker; and her husband, Lyle J. Moore. She is survived by her son, Richard, and many nieces and nephews. She was a wonderful mother and friend and deeply loved by her family. There are not words to express how greatly, how deeply, she will be missed. God broke the mold when He made Henrietta, daughter, wife, and the finest mother ever a son could have.
