Anita's obituary reads:
"Anita H. Bishop, 86, of Mesa, AZ. died from cancer and other complications at Providence Horizon House, Anchorage, AK. on 17 July 2006 at 9:20 a.m. She is survived by her son, Ingomar Eichholz of Anchorage, AK. and two sisters, Vera Layhew, of Huntsville Al.; Edith Strey, of Berlin Germany. She will be interred at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Mesa, AZ. Anita was born Anna Elise Heuer in Rosinthal a small rural community north of Berlin, Germany. She emigrated to the United States in 1951, at the invitation of her sister Vera and her husband James. She became a naturalized American citizen on June 8, 1956. She arrived in Mesa in 1957 amid the perfume of orange blossoms, when the surrounding area was still primarily orange groves and farm lands. Married to Walter M. Bishop in 1959, he preceded her in death on March 27, 1998. She helped in building first a cabin and then a second home in Heber AZ. She also followed him to many construction sites, including the Bart Transit System in the San Francisco Bay area and the Glenn Canyon Dam in Arizona. She was employed as a salesperson, housemaid, waitress, factory worker and field manager for a cosmetics company. Her many interests in life included crocheting, decorative needlework, gardening and playing cards. One of her passions in later life was to collect Hummel and other figurines. After retirement to Fellowship Square-Mesa, she did volunteer work in the gift shop at Banner Health Heart Hospital in Mesa. A small memorial service is planned at, Fellowship Square-Mesa, 6945 E.
