His obituary reads:
"Joseph "Papa Joe" Loforte, 87, a World War II Veteran and - our loving father is survived by his son Michael, daughters Maryjo Selby and Lulu Svec, one brother, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was born in Toronto, Canada, moved to the Valley in 1964, residing in Mesa for the past 17 years. On January 12, 2004 the Lord reached out and took our dad in his loving arms and carried him home. A celebration of Papa Joe's life will begin on Friday, January 16, 2004 with Visitation from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. and 6:00-8:00 P.M. with Rosary at 7:00 P.M., at Whitney & Murphy Arcadia Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ. Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. at St. Agnes, 1954 N. 24th Street, Phoenix, AZ."
